With the season starting on 1st September The Pythons are building their Coaching and Physio Teams. “We’re feeling positive around Dan Bird’s decision to become our full time Head Coach” said Mike Ruthen Director of Rugby. “Having him on the touch line every Saturday is a tremendous boost to our players. Not only do we have Dan full time but we’re also delighted to have secured Al Cawkwell-Brown and Dale Breakwell to assist him with player development in our ever growing squad. Making sure we have a pathway to develop players within the Pythons (1st team) and Pirates (2nd team) is one of our priorities for the new season as we look towards developing the amateur game in the Harrogate area. Player safety is also a main priority and we’ve added to our Physio team for the new season with Mark Foster joining us to assist Rob Jamieson both on match days and during those most important mid week recovery sessions”, he added.
Harrogate Pythons have teamed up with local strength and conditioning gym HG3. “Pete’s passion and approach to develop rugby fit players is infectious” said Head Coach Bird, ”Not only does he offer some great programmes for our players but he has a great understanding of the game and its demands on the body. Everything he does is geared towards this and will help launch the physical and mental development of our players. In addition to squad sessions he will also be offering the players bespoke training programmes for individuals wanting to develop specific physical areas and works closely with Rob and Mark on any rehab sessions players may need recovering between games. All this is included in our club membership,” he concluded. Pre season training begins on 2nd July, until then The Pythons have regular touch and pass sessions on Oatlands Stray on Mondays and Wednesday beginning at 7pm – all welcome to come along.
