Strong Start by the Pirates
Slow out of the blocks the Pirates conceded several tries early on but showed plenty of fighting spirit to work their way back into the game and eventually take the lead against Marc Fords men.
A gritty and determined performance saw Pirates come out on top with a 22-17 victory against a side that sit several leagues above the Pirates thanks to tries from Drane, Evans, Pye and Davies. Great to welcome some new faces to the side with the arrival of Tim Evans, Steve Youngson and Tom Wilkinson who all made their Pirates debuts and all put in fine performances to help steer the Pirates to victory.
Man of the Match was the poshest man ever to come out of Hull – Tom Wilkinson. Following the fixture, we had a cracking evening in York with our hosts where we had a 10 vs 10 match up of pub golf led by Pirates coach Al Cawkwell-Brown and are very much looking to a return fixture at the end of the 2019-2020 season.
